I did some research and it seems the XML api handles guild names differently.
Before http://xml.wow-heroes.com/xml-guild.php ... +Of+Saxony used to work.
Now http://xml.wow-heroes.com/xml-guild.php ... +of+Saxony only works.

See viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2597 for a detailed explanation.

Christiaan is my real name ;)

I've just released wowHeroes.js it uses YQL instead of my own hosted php webservice so it will save me some bandwidth (as I'm now having around 40 000 page requests each month which used to be like 4 per month :P).

I would like to urge anyone using my webservice to fetch data from Wow-Heroes to take a look at it and swap over as I plan on pulling the plug in a month or so (It will keep working for the Armory tough as YQL can't do that).

Is there any way a same XML webservice will be made for only 1 character?
Something like:
http://wow-heroes.com/index.php?zone=eu&server=Eonar&name=catzero

where you have to supply the zone, server and name?

Thank you in advanced!

I'm a little late to the game on this, but I was wondering if there was any new status on the webservice and specifically on pulling single character data from wow-heroes.com? My raid group is a co-op, so not everyone is in the same guild. I've got a Joomla component that currently keeps track of players & their tradeskill info, but would love to know "at a glance" how we all stack up.

A few pages back I posed a question about cross domain requests. I've since worked my way around that particular hurdle and have implemented a system that works.

You can see it here

I'd like to thank crushzilla for his work as I borrowed some heavy inspiration from his javascript. Wow-heroes for providing this brilliant information feed and the jquery community for making my life that little bit easier.

Hi there,

I have tried to get it working but unfortunately I get no data back after the ajax request.
Anything that I have to do in special with the setup javascript?
Code: Select all
jQuery(function($){
 var widget = $("#widget"),
 throbber = $('<img src="throbber.gif" alt="Loading..." width="54" height="55" />').appendTo(widget);
 wowHeroes.getGuild("us", "Aman'Thul", "Southern Stars", function(characters){
 throbber.remove();
 if(characters){
 widget.append("<table><thead><tr><th>C</th><th>Name</th><th>Score</th></tr></thead><tbody></tbody></table>");
var tbody = widget.find('tbody');

 // Do some sorting on gearscore
 characters.sort(function(a, b){ return b.score - a.score });

 $.each(characters, function(i, c){
 if(i > 9) {
 return false;
 }
 tbody.append("<tr><td><img src=\"classicons/"+c.classId+".gif\" alt=\""+c.classId+"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\"/></td><td>"+
 "<a class=\"class_"+c.classId+"\" href=\"http://wow-heroes.com/index.php?zone=us&server=Aman'thul&name="+escape(c.name)+"\">"+c.name+"</a>"+
 "</td><td>"+c.score+"</td></tr>");
 });
 }
 });
 });

Replace
Code: Select all
wowHeroes.getGuild("us", "Aman'Thul", "Southern Stars", function(characters){

with
Code: Select all
wowHeroes.getGuild("us", "Aman%27Thul", "Southern Stars", function(characters){

This could also be fixed in wowHeroes.js by adding
Code: Select all
realm = realm.replace(/'/g, "%27");

What stops you from fixing it? ^^
Fork wowHeroes.js at github.com here http://github.com/christiaan/wowHeroes.js and fix it in your fork.

I've fixed it for now tough by adding the replace you mentioned to the zone realm and guild get it while its fresh from github!
