This site cannot accurately judge which enchants are needed on a character.. a tank for example when it lists all +Def enchants when that is not always the way to go. Enchants and gemming is totally dependent on what stats you are currently lacking in, for example once you are uncrittable then you should obviously start stacking avoidance and this site doesn't recognize that. So on that note don't take most of what this site has to heart. And it should only be used as a very loose reference.

in this case, you would get some low score for +def enchant, because even some defense enchant is better than no enchant. However you get higher enchant scores for some more useful enchants, like +6 stats, or 150hp, etc etc, depending on a slot.

Avoidance is useful up to some point. If you have very high avoidance but low hp, you're dead, also if you're a warr for example you won't get enough rage to maintain required threat. But who can decide how much should you boost avoidance and how much other stats? It's individual, it represents your play style. It also depends on a boss, on some you need high avoidance, on some you need hp. If you want me to take a closer look about those "bad things", link your zone, realm and character name and I'll be more than happy to help you and "fix" the problems
Valid points about the value of a gem changing depending on the other stats for that tank (and other classes/specs are in the same boat of course) but it sounds like someone is sore that they didn't get the rating they wanted.
Of course this site is just a guide; anyone who takes any ranking system to be a definitive answer to the question "who is better?" in a game full of people with cognitive abilities to make different decisions in identical scenarios and learn from mistakes (as opposed to a predictable AI) would be making a mistake. Everything that a player does and every change in a raid makeup changes the relative value of any one piece of gear (the minute you get a lock and a shadow priest together when both were capped on some stat you just negated the value of some gem they had). But with that said, we have to have SOME way to make informed decisions and that used to be wowarmory (and doing all this math inside our heads whether we realized it or not) but now we are lucky enough to have this great tool at our disposal. And since so much of end game raiding (the sole focus of this site) IS a gear check (at least at key points in progression), the designers of wow-heroes have hit their mark dead on by providing the average (and often lazy) Joe some black and white answers that assist in character evalutaion and gear selection.
Thanks again for all your hard work and an awesome tool!
